How it works

Deleting from this page

• Enter the account's email address. We send a single-use link to that address, and it expires after a short time.
• The link opens a page that shows your request. Nothing happens until you confirm it there.
• We then email that address the time after which the account will be deleted, at least 24 hours later, with a link to cancel. After that time, unless you cancel, the deletion is carried out automatically, and we email you when it is complete. Once it is carried out, it can't be undone.
• Until you confirm the link, nothing we send says whether an account uses that address.

What happens

What deletion does

• The account is deactivated and pseudonymized: it shows as "Deleted User" and can never sign in again. Records other traders rely on stay under that name, rather than every related record being deleted.
• Your email address, avatar, location, push notification tokens, and settings are overwritten or cleared.
• Trades that are still in progress are cancelled, and we try to tell the other traders.
• Your Offer Binder and Wishlist cards are deleted. Cards that are part of a trade are kept, hidden from your lists and from matching, so that trade's record stays complete.
• Sign-in sessions are revoked.
• Your Share Binder links are deleted, and so are saved-trader entries in both directions.
• The record that limits how often your approximate area can change (Privacy Policy Section 3.2) is deleted. If that fails, it is still deleted automatically 24 hours after your last accepted location update.
• For 30 days afterward, the same email address can't be used to register a new account.

Retention

What may be retained

Some records stay after deletion: completed trades, ratings, reports, and blocks (shown as "Deleted User"), plus acceptance, age check, device-check, security, fraud-prevention, and legal records. We keep a one-way code derived from your email address so the 30-day wait can be enforced, and delete it after that unless an open report or ban still needs it. If an account is permanently banned when it is deleted, codes derived from its email addresses are kept so they can't be used to sign up again. If we delete an account because its holder is under 18, its address can't be used to sign up again for one year, unless we lift that block earlier (Privacy Policy, Section 9). We keep the 35 most recent daily encrypted database backups, so deleted data normally ages out of them about 35 days after deletion. The Privacy Policy (Section 7) has the full detail. This page is not a promise that every record is immediately or permanently erased.
